LITS provides several services related to teleconferencing (aka conference calling), or group conversations over telephone lines:

  • College-provided phones with group calling capabilities
  • Teleconferencing in meeting rooms
  • Conference call accounts

You can also conduct voice-only conference calls over the Internet through VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) software like Skype. See Web conferencing for details.

Getting Started

Depending on the phone model installed, you may be able to initiate a group call with multiple people from your office.

LITS also provides faculty and staff groups with conference call accounts that allow you to dial a number and enter a passcode from any phone to start a meeting, and give participants a phone number and pass code to join it. Your department's administrative assistant will have the details if your group has one.

To set up a meeting room for teleconferencing, select "Conference phone" under A/V Equipment/Miscellaneous when you reserve the room through Virtual EMS. If you do not have a departmental conference call account, request conference numbers and passcodes in the "Special Instructions" box.
